A little while back, WordPress suggested a photo prompt to recap the year in pictures. Life’s been hectic around here lately but I finally got around to putting together a little photo essay of the newest members of our family. We adopted Jack and Ozzie in December of 2011. Here’s a little bit of their first year with us:
I might dote on them a bit.
How about ya’ll? Do you have any furry family members you dote on? I know about some of you but always love to hear another pet story.

/ January 16, 2013Glad you enjoyed them!

/ January 11, 2013Oh I love them!!! These photos are wonderful and both of your babies are precious. Have a great day!
Evolution of X
/ January 16, 2013I wish you could meet them, Coppertop! They’re such sweet boys.

/ January 11, 2013So cute… I bet Savannah would love to play with them… for about 15 minutes.
Evolution of X
/ January 16, 2013That would be a fun 15 minutes to watch!

/ January 11, 2013Very sweet. They look very happy being adopted by you guys. I especially like the photo with the very dry statement, “They saw a cat.”
Evolution of X
/ January 16, 2013It was worth a set of blinds to get that picture. I’m working with them on not going crazy every time something moves outside the window, but it’s like TV to them (and they are very enthusiastic viewers).
Barbara Backer-Gray
/ January 16, 2013Yeah, good luck with that. Our Labradoodle is almost six, and she still greets each squirrel with the same ridiculous enthusiasm as when she was 8 weeks old.
Evolution of X
/ January 17, 2013A Labradoodle! Oh, I be she’s adorable. Our Jack haunts the sliding glass door just to catch a glimpse of a squirrel. And yes, then he has a fit for me to let him out to chase it.

/ January 11, 2013Dote on a dog? Me?
We have almost 15-year old Cooper, who has been dying now for 3 years. He has had more drugs than the population of Malawi. But he lives. In fact, I’m pretty sure he will outlive me. But he is not spalled.
Evolution of X
/ January 16, 2013Good for Cooper! We lost both of our previous dogs to cancer and old age last year. I hope Cooper is with you for a long time to come.
Elyse
/ January 11, 2013He’s not spoiled either.
Evolution of X
/ January 16, 2013Heh heh.
Sandy Sue
/ January 12, 2013Sweetness. They’re big guys–especially if you’re sharing the bed!
Evolution of X
/ January 16, 2013Yes, that probably wasn’t a good decision. We make them get in their own beds when it’s time to sleep, but Jack will sneak back up in the middle of the night if he gets cold (and I’ll wake up with 55 lbs of boxer mutt wedged against my legs).

/ January 13, 2013oh NOOOOO!!! those faces, that sweetness!!! what adorableness. i loved the image “they saw a cat.” hahahaha!!!! so wonderful you were able to adopt them together.
Evolution of X
/ January 16, 2013They are pretty darn cute and they know it. I was glad we could adopt them both too. They were two years old and had never been separated. They don’t even like being separated now. If I try to walk them separately (or take one to the vet), whoever has to stay home stands at the window and barks until we get back (or howls, in Ozzie’s case).
FeyGirl
/ January 17, 2013Wow…. So amazing. They are so incredibly lucky to have found you!!! What a bond.
Hahaha! We had a doggie named Ozzie, too! We named him after a Shelley poem — not the headbanger / bat-biter.
Evolution of X
/ January 17, 2013Ozymandias! Yes! I love that poem. We were batting around names as a family and when my partner suggested Ozzie, the boys liked it and I agreed as long as we didn’t name him after the bat-biter. So she maintains that his full name is Oswald. What kind of dog is your Ozzie?
FeyGirl
/ January 17, 2013Heee… The FURTHEST thing from Ozymandias that you would think!
A sweet, goofy cocker spaniel. He’s no longer with us (he was really my mom’s guy), but he was another rescue, of course — an adult rescue.
Roberta
/ January 19, 2013“Of course, a rescue…” YESH! What wonderful photos – I, too, love the cat-less photo as well as the one (third from the bottom) where all attention is on YOU (or whoever is holding the treats). Rapt.
The last two dogs fostered out from my dog sanctuary during a surgery in December returned today – full house again of 18, mostly hounds with one Spaniel type, all but four adoptable. Joyful! Thanks for sharing!
